About this tool

Design a palette of up to ten colours. Type, paste or pick each one, tune it with OKLCH sliders, or press Space to generate new colours around the ones you’ve locked, following a colour harmony: complementary, analogous, triadic, split, tetradic or monochrome.

Every colour grows into a numbered shade scale, 50 to 950 by default, with even steps in perceived lightness. Choose the numbering, how light and dark the ends go and how much colour they keep; the same colour and settings always give the same scale.

Undo and redo any change, copy CSS variables or a hex list, share the palette as a link, download it as CSS, design tokens, Adobe Swatch Exchange or a GIMP palette, or send it to the token exporter. Your palette is remembered in this browser until you change it.

How does Generate choose colours?

It keeps locked colours, takes the first one as the base (or a random colour if none is locked), turns its hue by the harmony’s angles in OKLCH and spreads the new colours from light to dark so the palette has contrast to work with.

Why are the names like "blue" and "amber"?

Each colour is named after its hue family until you give it a name, so exported tokens read well. Names you type are kept.
