Trim, convert, compress, resize and crop video, grab frames and make GIFs. Everything runs on your device with your browser’s own video codecs, so your files are never uploaded. What each browser can write differs, so every tool checks before it offers an option.

About video tools

Interformat’s video tools run entirely in your browser. Pick a file and it is read, edited and saved on your device, so a private recording or an unreleased clip never travels to a server.

They use your browser’s own video codecs through WebCodecs, the same technology that plays video. That makes common jobs fast, and it means the formats you can save depend on your browser and device. Each tool checks what is available and turns off anything your device can’t do, instead of offering an option that would fail.

Where a job doesn’t need re-encoding, such as muting or a fast trim, the video is copied as it is, so quality isn’t lost and the result is ready in seconds. When a re-encode is needed, the tool says so before you start.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. There is no server that processes video. Files are opened, edited and saved in your browser, and the tools keep working with your internet connection off once the page has loaded.

Which video formats work?

Reading works for MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV files. What you can save depends on your browser and device, so each tool shows only the options yours supports. The Video Info tool lists exactly which codecs your browser can read and write.

Is there a size limit?

Files are read from disk as needed, but the finished video is built in memory, so the practical limit depends on your device. The tools warn you before a job that is likely to run out of memory, and trimming a long recording first helps.

Does it work on a phone?

Often, for shorter clips. Phones have less memory and slower encoders, so large or long videos are better handled on a computer.

Why does a tool say it can’t read my video?

Usually the file uses a codec this browser can’t decode, such as some HEVC (H.265) files, or it is in a format like AVI or WMV that isn’t supported. Try Chrome or Edge on a computer, or convert the file to MP4 (H.264) or WebM first.
