About this tool
Compare two CSV or TSV exports and see which rows were added, removed or changed, with the old and new value of every changed cell. Quoted fields with commas, quotes and line breaks are read correctly, and the separator is detected for each file.
Rows are matched by a key column, picked automatically when one column has a different value in every row, or by the columns you choose, so sorting a file differently doesn’t make every row look changed. You can also match rows by position, or by content to find rows that were inserted. With a header row, columns are matched by name, so reordered columns still line up.
Download the differences as CSV or JSON. The CSV report protects against spreadsheet formulas by default, and repeated keys are reported rather than silently matched.
What if a key appears more than once?
Rows with the same key are matched in the order they appear, and the tool tells you which keys repeat, so you can choose more key columns to tell them apart.
Why protect against formulas?
A cell that starts with =, +, - or @ can run as a formula when a CSV file is opened in a spreadsheet. Protection adds an apostrophe in front, so the value is shown instead.
