JSON ↔ CSV Converter
Turn JSON records into CSV or TSV and back, with control over nested data, separators and spreadsheet formula safety.
About this tool
Convert a JSON list of records into CSV or TSV with one column for every key found in any record, or turn a CSV back into JSON. Choose how nested objects and lists are written: as columns like address.city, as JSON inside a cell, or joined.
CSV is read the RFC 4180 way, so quoted fields can contain commas, quotes and line breaks, and the separator is detected for you. Values with leading zeros, like postcodes, stay text when converting to JSON.
Cells that start with =, +, - or @ can run as formulas when a CSV is opened in a spreadsheet. Interformat warns you and offers a protection mode that prefixes them with an apostrophe, rather than changing data silently.
Why does Excel show strange characters?
Excel assumes an older encoding unless a UTF-8 file starts with a byte order mark. Turn on “Byte order mark” before downloading.
