JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF are cleaned without re-encoding. Other formats are re-saved.

About this tool

Photos carry hidden details: where they were taken, the camera’s serial number, your name, editing history and sometimes a preview of the uncropped original.

For JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF, Interformat removes all of it by rewriting the file’s structure. The image data itself is copied byte for byte, so there is no loss of quality at all, unlike tools that re-save the photo.

Every cleaned file is scanned again, so you can see for yourself that nothing personal is left.

Will removing metadata rotate my photos?

No. Interformat keeps the orientation flag by default, so photos stay upright. You can remove it too if you prefer.

Does it work on HEIC or AVIF?

Those formats are re-saved to remove metadata, which re-compresses the image at high quality. JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF are cleaned losslessly.
