About this tool
Remove the password from a PDF you have the right to open. Enter the password when the file asks for it, and you download a copy that opens without one. If a file opens freely but forbids printing, editing or copying, saving it here removes those restrictions too.
The password is used once, inside your browser, to decrypt the file. Neither the password nor the PDF is sent anywhere.
This tool does not guess or crack passwords. If you do not know the password, it cannot help, and the same is true of every honest PDF tool: modern PDF encryption cannot be bypassed.
How do I remove a PDF password?
Open the file here, type its password when prompted and choose Remove protection. The copy you download no longer asks for a password.
Can you unlock a PDF if I forgot the password?
No. The open password cannot be recovered or bypassed. Only files that open without a password but have printing or editing restrictions can be freed without one.
Is my password sent to a server?
No. Decryption runs in your browser, so the password and the document stay on your device.
Is it legal to remove restrictions from a PDF?
Only use it on files you own or are allowed to modify. Restrictions are sometimes set for legal or licensing reasons, and removing them from someone else’s work may breach their terms.
