About this tool
A PDF that will not open, or opens with pages missing, is often only missing its index: the table at the end of the file that says where every page lives. An interrupted download, a crash while saving or a sloppy export tool can all leave a file in that state, with the pages themselves still inside.
Repair PDF reads through the file, rebuilds that index and saves a clean copy, then tells you how many pages came back and what it had to fix. If the page data itself is damaged or cut off, only what can be read is kept, and you are told when that happens.
Everything is done in your browser. The damaged file is not uploaded, and your original is not changed.
How do I fix a corrupted PDF?
Open it here and choose Repair. If the file’s index is broken, it is rebuilt and you get a clean copy with the pages that could be recovered.
Why does my PDF say “the file is damaged”?
The most common reasons are an incomplete download, a transfer that was cut off, or an application that crashed while saving. The pages are often still in the file; only the index needed to find them is missing.
Can every PDF be repaired?
No. If the page content itself was lost, for example because the file was truncated, those pages cannot be recovered. Getting the file again from its source is the best fix then.
