SVG Optimizer

Shrink SVG files with svgo, made safe and checked pixel by pixel against the original.

Drop SVG files

Every result is rendered and compared with the original, so you know it still looks the same.

About this tool

Make SVG files smaller with svgo, the optimiser most build tools use, running on your device. Choose Safe to only tidy numbers and editor leftovers, Default for the standard clean-up, or Aggressive for the smallest files.

Every result is rendered and compared with the original pixel by pixel. If a preset changes how a file looks, Interformat falls back to the safe preset for that file and tells you, so you never ship an icon with a missing part. A file that can’t be made smaller is left as it is.

Scripts, event handlers and references to other servers are removed before optimising, which makes SVGs from untrusted sources safe to use.

Why keep the width and height?

Without them an SVG has no size of its own and fills whatever space CSS gives it. That’s ideal for inline icons, but an <img> without a width would then render at the browser’s default size.

Is the optimised SVG identical to the original?

It looks the same, which is checked by rendering both. The markup is different: ids may be shortened, groups merged and numbers rounded. Use Safe if other code depends on its ids or structure.

Look for the install icon at the right end of your browser’s address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Install Interformat.
