File Hash & Checksum

Get SHA-256, SHA-512, SHA-1, MD5, BLAKE3 and other hashes of files or text, and check downloads against a published checksum.

Drop files to hash

Any type and size. Add a checksum file such as SHA256SUMS to check them all.

About this tool

Get the SHA-256, SHA-512, SHA-384, SHA3-256, BLAKE2b, BLAKE3, SHA-1, MD5, CRC-32 or xxHash64 of any number of files, or of text you type. Files are read in pieces, so even very large ones never have to fit in memory.

To check a download, paste the hash its website publishes, in hex, Base64 or SRI form, or drop its checksum file, such as SHA256SUMS, together with the files: each one is matched by name and checked.

Copy any hash, show integrity values for script and link tags, and download a checksum file that sha256sum and similar tools can verify. Use SHA-256 or stronger when tampering matters: MD5 and SHA-1 can be forged.
