About this tool
Bookmarks are the outline in a PDF viewer’s side panel that lets you jump to a chapter or section. Read a PDF’s existing bookmarks here, rename them, fix the pages they point to, indent entries to nest them, reorder them, delete the ones you do not want, and add your own. Long reports and manuals become far easier to navigate.
A bookmark points at a page, and each can be nested under another. Save with none to remove the whole outline. Only the bookmarks change; the pages, text and images are untouched, and the file is processed in your browser, not uploaded.
Bookmarks that point to a position other than the top of a page are re-aimed at the top of that page, and links inside the pages are not edited. Splitting a PDF by bookmark works well once the outline is right, so try Split PDF afterwards.
How do I add bookmarks to a PDF?
Open the PDF here, choose Add bookmark, type a title and the page it should jump to, and save. Indent entries to nest them under a heading.
How do I remove all bookmarks from a PDF?
Choose Remove all and save. The new file has no outline, and its pages are unchanged.
Can I change where a bookmark points?
Yes. Change the page number beside it. It will then open at the top of that page.
Does this change my PDF’s pages?
No. Only the outline changes. Text, images and layout stay exactly as they were.
